We consider this piece an extremely rare example, as it is in original condition The paint has not been re-touched - Circa 18thC.

Chests fromĀ India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced India. They were usually made from Teak, rosewood or jackfruit wood.
They were used for storing valuables such as textiles, jewellery and cash. Our pieces are mostly from the 19th century & occasionally 18th and early 20th century.
