Brass Bound Teak Chest From Rajasthan - 19th Century

This antique Indian brass bound chest dates to the 19thĀ century and emulates the classic military chest style which became so popular during the British occupation and British Raj. This style is from Rajasthan in Northern India and would have been used for storing valuables such as textiles, jewellery & cash. There is also an interior box for storing candles which would have been valuable, especially in the darker times of year. It is constructed from beautifully patinated teak and has its original brass fittings and handles. The perfect size for a coffee table with a sturdy chain that prevents the lid from falling open and straining the hinges.Ā
