Green Celadon Rice Bowl

Green Celadon Rice Bowl

This small celadon bowl is the perfect little rice bowl. Decorated with subtle peony flowers.

This simple reproduction green porcelain bowl is from China. The origins of Celadon began at the end of the Han Dynasty (206 BC €“ 220AD) but it wasn€™t until the Jin Dynasty (265 €“ 420) that the creation of celadon excelled as an art form.

Celadon was favoured by nobles and the wealthy classes due to a myth that it would break if poisoned food or liquid was put inside. it also resembles the colour of jade, which has been considered a sacred stone in China since pre-history.
