This form is known as Gajalakshmi or Gajalaxmi. Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of prosperity and consort of Vishnu andĀ alters her form to accompany him on each of his incarnations.
This 19th century lintel panel is carved from a single piece of wood and the detailed carvings are layered with years of orange and blue phases of paint.Ā
