Elm Chest Of Drawers From Gansu - Late 19thC

Elm Chest Of Drawers From Gansu - Late 19thC

This chest of drawers doubles as a sideboard, is from Gansu and dates from the late 19th century. Made from elm wood originally painted black. Over time, the paint has since begun to wear off, especially on the top leaving this beautifully rustic finish.

This cabinet was originally a grain store and the panels at the front would have been purely decorative. The paneling has since been converted into drawers for storage. Can be used behind a sofa or as a centerpiece in a living or dining room.
