
Shandong Sideboard - 19th Century
This beautifully patinated 19th century cabinet comes from Shandong in China. Its simple design originated during the Ming dynasty. It is constructed completely from northern elm (yumu) and consists of a large interior space separated by a single shelf. Four drawers run along the top adding additional storage. Brass locking plates and ring handles adorn the doors and drawers finishing its classic look.
These cabinets were used for storage & also as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship.
