White Painted Jali Doors From Gujarat - 19th Century
These antique Indian doors from Gujarat are painted with pastel pigments. The window panels are jali work (also called jaali), constructed from delicately wrought iron forming a latticework pattern. The word jali is often incorrectly conflated with jails to which there is no connection.Â
Â
These teak wood jali doors are one of a set and have layers of pastel piments that have worn in certain areas layers giving it a 'distressed' feel. It would look stunning hung on a wall or as a freestanding piece of art.
