This three drawer jewellery box from Saurashtra is a superb example of Indian craftsmanship combined with quirky Indian design. Carved from rosewood and adorned with brass metalwork, the three drawers are kept securely locked by three locking pins only accessible by unlocking the lid (the locking pins are visible in the image of the box open.) This style of box is only found in Gujarat in the areas of Kutch & Saurashtra and brass peacocks often adorn the front, These safe boxes would have been used for cash and jewellery.
