Decorative Panel Made From Architectural Carvings

Decorative Panel Made From Architectural Carvings

This large-scale decorative panel is assembled from a collection of reclaimed Indian architectural fragments, each individually hand-carved with floral, foliate, and geometric motifs. The carved elements were originally part of doors, ceilings, and architectural fittings from temples and havelis, and date from the 18th to 20th century. The panel itself is a modern composition, carefully constructed to present the fragments as a single architectural piece.

The composition is arranged with a stepped, layered frame that draws the eye toward a central carved medallion, creating depth and structure. The softly bleached surface retains traces of earlier pigments and wear, consistent with reclaimed teak architectural wood. The scale and shallow depth allow the panel to function either as wall-mounted artwork or as an alternative bedhead.
